SPAI recently conducted a Seminar & Presents an Educative Film on ADVANCED SCREEN PRINTING PROCESSES

 SPAI which will complete 30 years in August 2010, recently conducted a Seminar and presented an Educative Film on ADVANCED SCREEN PRINTING PROCESSES, specially for the Printers – Digital, Offset and Screen.
The event was conducted on 12 June 2010 from 5.30 pm onwards at PVG Gymkhana, Cooperage, Mumbai. This venue was selected specially, to be closer to Byculla, CP Tank, Lower Parel, and Worli which are old and large printing hubs in Mumbai. The event was attended by over 100 participants from across Mumbai with even printers coming from Goa and Hyderabad as well.
The aim of the seminar was to provide insights into the Modern Technologies which is required to be a profitable and innovative printer.
SPAI President Mr. Sanjay Vora, gave a brief introduction on SPAI-FESPA association and how both these associations with their mottos “Together we serve better and longer” and “United we print” respectively, are aiming to educate print buyers, printers and others related to Screen, Digital and Offset printing industry.
He also spoke on the scope of Value Addition they can all provide in their respective fields, using the latest innovation, Technology, Machinery and Material. He said that it is creativity that will add big time to the bottom line of everyone.
Mr. Rajeev Gokhale, Secretary – SPAI, took the show forward by introducing Mr. Venkat Durga Prasad, Technical Manager of Chromaline, representing Photokina Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., who showed a power point presentation on Screen Making Basics as well as on squeegees.
After him, Mr. Mustafa Kapadia of COLORS UV Speciality Inks, made presentations, on UV Inks - its effects/usage and advantages. Then, Mr. Bhargav Mistry of Grafica Flextronica presented a short Educative Film on Advanced Screen Printing Process, which covered the points below:
1. Advantages of using a Polyester Vs Nylon fabric, 2. Advantages of selecting the right squeegee rubber, 3.Advantages of using Emulsions, 4. Advantages of using Aluminium frame Vs Wooden frames, 5. Advantages of using UV Vs Solvent Inks, 6. Advantages of Proper reclamation (de-coating) process,
7. Advantages of Automation Vs Manual screen printing processes, 8. How to reduce cost per print, 9. How to improve Quality and productivity, 10. Knowledge of correct job costing to know whether you are making profits, 11.New Business Ideas for spot UV Screen Printers
The floor was then open for Q & A session on technical topics related to Screen Printing. Quite a few queries were asked and answered.

After the question hour, SPAI also facilitated Mr. Madhu Kumar Doshi, a founder member, ex President and Director on SPAI Board, for his benevolent donation of Rs. 1.0 Lakh towards a Corpus fund to Institute an award to recognize best talent in the industry.
SPAI plans to conduct such seminars across the country at various locations in the country, to educate and expose printers to the modern and innovative methods. SPAI also plans to hold similar seminars for manufacturers and distributors separately.
